"Who We Are"

  • Supernatural Power

  • The Bible we read/say we believe is not the Bible we actually live.

  • Natural vs. Supernatural

  • Most of what the church does, we don’t even need God to accomplish.

  • What if we really believe and acted on what the Bible says?

  • Somehow, Christianity has gotten off track.

  • Bible = a supernatural book from cover to cover.

  • Word and deed…not just words.

  • Mark 16:17-18 -  “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

  • Word and deed…never just words. (Prophesy is so key!)

  • Quote: “The revival we need is simply a return to normal NT Christianity, where the churches are full of prayer, full of power, full of people, full of praise, full of divine happenings all the time.  We want something normal, not just ‘special.’  God’s normal, that is.  God’s normal is greater than most of our specials put together.” – Dr. Armin Gesswein

  1. Mission

  • We are a people on a mission.

  • Jesus was a man on a mission.

  • Luke 4:14-21 - (NIV) Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. 16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”  20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

  • This event declared the New Covenant - a whole new chapter in human history!

  • What Christianity is REALLY supposed to look like.

  • Prophecy/Tongues

  • Healing

  • Deliverance

  • Salvation

  • Spiritual Gifts

  • Let’s be honest… Bible we read is way more fun than the lives most Christians lead.

  • Kingdom = demonstration of God’s love and power.

  • Jesus started his Kingdom - came to set captives free \  seek save the lost\ has passed his authority and power on to us.

  • Lords Prayer - “Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

  • 4-5 minutes - “What would it look like if God’s Kingdom in heaven really came to earth?”

  • Neighborhood, school, work etc…

  1. Permission

  • Not only gave us a Mission, but he also gives us divine permission

  • Authority at the beginning

  • Matthew 10:1 (NASB) - “Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.”

  • Why do you think Jesus did this?

  • Was Jesus a “one-man show?”

  • He is purposely turning over to these 12 normal/natural guys what He has been doing.

  • Matthew 10:5-8  (NASB) -  These twelve Jesus sent out …7 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

  • Sets the bar high

  • Authority at the End

  • Matthew 28:18-20 (TPT) - “Then Jesus came close to them and said, “All the authority of the universe (or “over the universe”) has been given to me.  Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you.  And never forget that I AM with you every day, even to the completion of this age.”

  • Think about what Jesus is saying!!!

  • Just conquered hell/death/grave and has authority over the WHOLE UNIVERSE, and then he hands it over to these 11 guys…GO GET EM!

Not only given us a Mission…Permission…and now He gives us Provision!

  1. Provision

  • Dunamis power (resurrection) - dynamite power - “BOOM”  (promised through Holy Spirit  Acts) — the same power that raised Jesus from he grave live in me!

  • Romans 8:10-11 - (TPT) “Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God. 11 Yes, God raised Jesus to life! And since God’s Spirit of Resurrection lives in you, he will also raise your dying body to life by the same Spirit that breathes life into you!”

  • 4-5 minutes - “Have you witnessed resurrection power in action?  Miracles, healing, etc?  Share about your experience.”

  • Ephesians 1:19-20 - (TPT) “My prayer for you is that every moment you will experience the measureless power of God made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! 20 This is the explosive and mighty resurrection power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority (theres that word again = permission)  in the heavenly realm!”

  • “Measureless power”

  • “made available to you and I”

  • “explosive and mighty resurrection power”

  • What’s going on inside of me?

  • Ex.  Owning a Ferrari but pushing it instead of driving it.

  • John 14:11-14 - (NIV) “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

  • Works = miracles, healings, deliverance, etc…

  • If I believe in Jesus for salvation, then I am required to do “greater works”

  • Supernatural events vs. supernatural lifestyle

Conclusion

We are to do… “His Mission with His Permission in His Provision”

  • John 20:21 - (NASB) He prophesied to His disciples and to us when He said, “As the Father has sent me, I also send you.”

  • Video: “Same Power”

  • It is time to put fear aside and live fearlessly!

  • I lack for nothing

  • The great I AM is with me,

  • and I will take his supernatural Kingdom with me everywhere I go.

  • Remember

  • We see what we look for.

  • We are what we declare.
